About
SketchCo.com is written and published by freelance writer Eldon Sarte. Eldon has worked 20+ years in the publishing industry. After working for The New Republic and Wine magazines in the late 80s and early 90s, he independently developed and authored I.T. and computer programming courseware and was very active in the local education and computer user communities, serving for a number of years as Editor-in-Chief of both the award-winning CPCUG Monitor monthly magazine and the DC-area Computer Digest monthly tabloid.
A very early user of what he calls “the public Internet,” in the second half of the 90s he wrote and published the popular e-Factory NewsDesk daily ezine, which was later acquired by electronic publisher Intellectua.com and renamed The Dirtsmart Netpreneur, which Eldon also wrote and published for the company as its new CIO. While at Intellectua, he authored the company’s.COMstruction: The Basics flagship commercial ebook, and edited and designed its extensive product line of instant download ebooks, including the popular Dream Jobs To Go series of career guides.
Graphically, despite having no formal graphic design training or education, Eldon has been considered as having “graphically-oriented” skills all his life. Hobby-wise, since childhood he’s dabbled in illustration, photography and type design. Professionally he’s self-taught, and he can’t forget the many countless nights he spent way back when putting together 4C magazines, books and manuals with some of the earliest versions of DTP software (Aldus PageMaker) running on tiny B/W Macs and Windows PCs with 4MB RAM. Which probably explains why to this day, despite all the amazingly powerful and capable tools and resources available, he still looks at graphic design tasks with a very practical eye.
